Chicago Summer Series (Wishbone)

Sunday Brunch at Wishbone

3300 N Lincoln Ave

Finally! I had a well deserved Sunday off.

My friend Josh recommended Wishbone a few weeks ago. I met Josh in graduate school. Currently, he is a Digital Media Doctoral Candidate that plays with apps, poetry, and holograms.

I called up my friend Dana whom I haven’t seen for a few months. And we met up at Wishbone on a pleasant Sunday morning.

Wishbone is located in the neighborhood of Lakeview, just a few blocks from the Paulina Brown line stop. On the intersection between Lincoln Ave and School St.

The inside of the restaurant is colorful and there are farm animal decorations on the walls, roosters, pigs and poodles. The staff wears t-shirts of an angry poodle. There are witty decorations and signs that are very fun to read while you wait. Despite it being Sunday, there wasn’t much of a wait.

The day was not too hot, only enough to be cooled off in the shade with an iced drink. We sat on the patio, and it was quiet until we began chatting away.

The server had to approach us several times before we began looking at the menu. We were too busy catching up.

Being the cosmopolitan girls that we are, we ordered a mimosa and a Bloody Mary. The southern style Bloody Mary was the perfect combination of spicy and refreshing, just what is needed on a Sunday morning.

And then another round!

I ordered the Southern Florentine: bone-in-ham, on a buttermilk biscuit topped with spicy country sausage gravy. Dana ordered the Eggs Florentine, which are available to order meatless. Some of the other Benedict options are, BBQ Benedict and Crab Cake Benedict.

I highly recommend a visit to Wishbone!
